Deva Mahal

A dynamic vocalist and songwriter, Deva Mahal (pronounced Diva) is the daughter of legendary blues musician Taj Mahal, with whom she wrote the song “Never Let You Go” on his Grammy Award nominated album Maestro.  A soul as singular as Deva’s can only find voice through an equally unique sound, which she’s forged by growing her blues roots through the fertile soil of indie R&B. Those remarkable facets come together strikingly on Run Deep her recently released first CD.  She has undeniable vocal talent, immersing herself in the musical culture of New York City. Deva has performed alongside such legends as Etta James, Dianne Reeves, Maceo Parker, Bettye Layette  Sharon Jones & The dap Kings, The Roots, and Cyndi Lauper. In 2013, Deva made her acting debut in the Academy Award nominated film American Hustle starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.
